Mentoring Behind the Glass

The purpose of Mentoring Behind the Glass (MBG) is to bring emotional support to incarcerated individuals, nourish and strengthen them through the knowledge of God, and to assist them in making a seamless spiritual & physical transition from life behind glass to life in the Body of Christ. This program is open to all faiths and denominations.

Mentors also assist mentees in finding a church home and reentry planning that may include referrals for housing, employment, clothing, food, as well as alcohol and substance abuse programs.

Through weekly or every other week visits, inmates experience Christ-centered fellowship focused around biblically-based living skills training and prayer. Mentoring sessions last between 30-60 minutes and continues until the mentee is released or transferred to a state facility. The typical length of mentoring can last between 3 to 6-months. Mentoring can and may continue after release in a structured setting, such as attending church services, church- or community-based follow up classes or programs, weekly bible studies, or through other related activities. Follow up mentoring can also take place over the phone.
